Research and Development Action Research Projects

We are currently promoting a number of Research and Development projects in individual schools and across primary/secondary phases in the areas below.

SLE Development

  • Our Alliance has a number of SLEs who are actively working with primary and secondary colleagues to promote research and development within their subjects, delivered through regular subject leader meetings.

  • Schools across primary and secondary phases are working together to focus on phonics; extended writing; the transition of Maths and English from Y6 to Y7; student views on teaching and learning and challenging and motivating potential underachievers.
  • In Summer term 2017, teachers from both primary and secondary phases will be trialing a transition unit on writing following research based investigations. It is intended that this new resource will be available to purchase during academic year 2017/18.

  • Schools across KS2 and KS3, led by Victoria Coxon (Archbishop Temple School) are currently completing research into assessment procedures. Transition meetings, including cross-phase observations will take place for English and Maths during the Autumn Term 2017.
  • The group are considering research into schemes of work/programmes of study with particular focus on avoiding repetition or gaps in learning and understanding.
  • Expected age-related outcomes and how these  link to the KS2 standardised scores is expected to be a focus as the group moves forwards.
  • Differentiation of task in the classroom, and examples of best work in year 6 will be forwarded to year 7 teachers.
