Secondary Pedagogy for Learning Days
The Preston Teaching School Alliance School Direct training programme provides graduates with a direct route into teaching. In order to develop and enhance the trainees' subject knowledge, twelve Pedagogy for Learning training days are delivered which are dedicated solely to the teaching of the trainees' chosen secondary subject specialism.
These days are run by a mixture of school-based staff and university tutors. The majority of Pedagogy for Learning days take place at the University of Cumbria campus although Drama and Design Technology training sessions are delivered by the experts in our placement schools. A variety of key themes are covered and our trainee teachers work with subject specialists, together with their peers, from their subject area. In addition to the provision of pedagogy on areas such as teaching and learning and assessment we do tailor our training to the distinct needs of the curriculum, for example the Drama Pedagogy for Learning days cover the teaching of popular Drama texts and technical and design elements, whilst the Design Technology training includes a two-day intensive Health and Safety training course.
